LOOK INSIDE YOURSELF, NOT YOUR HANDBAG.

A few weeks ago Hayley (from Hayley Miller) asked for bloggers to collaborate in a handbag documentary and I jumped at the chance to share how much my handbags mean to me. I LOVE handbags. I pride myself that I at least have the self control not to buy a new bag every week until I have a different one  for each day of the year. I have memories and emotions attached to every one I own and that at least 30, and always longing after another.

I have the Gucci handbag: the one I use when I want to impress (read as show off how amazing my boyfriend is) and makes me feel like a queen; the satchel I use for study days/ assessments or when ever I need to carry a lot of stuff around with me; a variety of "hippy bags" that I live in Monday to Friday at  work (usually with an orange or apple left in there past its prime); and then there is the Ted Baker clutch (from my dad) that spends 99% of its time tucked up safely in its dust bag and only for special occasions.

Out of all of the bags I own my all time favourite has to be my hairy monster bag.

For my 21st I went to New York and while there (back at home) Chris managed to break his foot (cue a text message saying "I just had an x-ray :)" with the smiley face and then several hours I couldn't contact him) but he still managed to hobble to the town centre to by me this when I returned jet lagged. I didn't even know he noticed how much I wanted it form River Island. It was the most thoughtful gift I ever received and so spot on me probably the best present anyone has ever bought me.

I'll be the first to admit its seen better days and there is a whole in the lining the size of my fist but I love it. I'm convinced its got me every job  I've interviewed for (and is coming with me for my Uni interviews) as it makes the best first impression. Its just so striking.

If I am ever worried about going somewhere I take this bag. It makes me feel safe and reminds me of Chris.

It goes with practically everything I own and I think its in about 70% of all my outfit posts.

As I only have one outfit post without a bag (I did have one with me I just wasn't holding it at the time) handbags are a VERY IMPORTANT part of my look. I don't feel properly dressed without one. I feel like I'm in that Little Britain scratch where the piano player stops his recital to check his bag. Where else am I going to keep my DSLR,  iPhone, diary, keys and a rather crushed cereal bar for "just in case"? Or how am I going to attract cute dogs to stroke?

I wonder is all my magic powers come from my bags?

Bag: River Island

All my favourite bloggers are bag fanatics too (Law, Laura, Elizabeth and Helena are a few I never see without a bag).

Do you have a favourite bag? How does it make you feel?

P.S. I want to thank my best friend April for these photos- she really captured the bag perfectly and i give her 10/10 for the effort she put in.

  1. Having a different bag for every day of the year would be a dream, and the weirder (and furrier!) they are, the better! Yours is so perfect, and the story behind it is really lovely!

  5. Aww, this is such a lovely post to read through, it's rare we get a glimpse into such a personal aspect of someone's wardrobe, as bloggers. I personally am obsessed with handbags, but none of them mean very much to me; I'll have to start branching out and getting some more interesting stories to go alongside my love for arm candy ha xx
